FIVE YEARS OLD

We celebrated Nora's fifth birthday on Friday. She was so excited. The only bad thing about being five is changing classes at school in the fall. Nora doesn't want to change classes. She said she wanted to stay in the class with all her friends. When I told her they will be in kindergarten also she was a little better but she still wants to be in Ms. Jackie's class. I wish she could be in Ms. Jackie's class also.

Del and I went for a parent teacher conference on last Thursday. We were told that Nora had met or surpassed every skills test that is given for pre-schoolers. They went over everything with us and she has done very well. Much better than expected for her age. There was only two negative things from the list of six pages and they were minor. She doesn't yet understand yesterday and tomorrow. To Nora everything in the past is yesterday and everything in the future is tomorrow. I was told that is normal for her age. The only other negative remark was about her slight speech problem (very typical for her age). She has trouble with R's. When someone asks her name Nora sounds like Noah.

We're very proud of our five year old daughter. She loves school and doesn't want to be out for the summer.

For her birthday Nora got a bicycle, an easel and hexbugs. It rained on her birthday so she had to try the bicycle out indoors.
